Role OverviewThe Maintenance Supervisor for Balance of Plant (BOP) is a seasoned electrical expert, responsible for overseeing, diagnosing, and executing maintenance tasks related to high voltage (HV), medium voltage (MV), and low voltage (LV) electrical systems. This position primarily supports our renewable energy facilities, including wind and solar, while also providing assistance to thermal and hydro operations as necessary.
Key Responsibilities- Identify and define outage requirements for substations, ensuring compliance with established standards, including contractor selection and review of outage data.
- Coordinate outage planning with operational teams and field personnel to ensure effective project execution.
- Develop and implement both short-term and long-term maintenance strategies for all electrical equipment across the organization.
- Analyze potential single points of failure and recommend strategies for critical spare parts management for existing and new sites.
- Ensure that all maintenance activities adhere to internal and external regulatory standards.
- Support the analysis of maintenance data and metrics, preparing performance reports as needed.
- Collaborate effectively with the Maintenance Engineering team while providing leadership to third-party service providers.
- Engage with various internal stakeholders, including Operations, Engineering, and Compliance teams, as well as external contractors.
- Assist Maintenance Planners and Technicians in addressing operational challenges, reporting to the Senior Manager of Maintenance Engineering.
- Facilitate the implementation of systems such as SAP and condition-based monitoring to enhance data-driven maintenance planning.
- Possess comprehensive knowledge of industry standards for maintenance testing of electrical systems, particularly for BOP.
- Provide project management support for BOP maintenance initiatives, including scope definition, budgeting, and scheduling.
- Adapt to changing work priorities and undertake additional tasks as assigned.
- Prioritize safety and compliance with environmental regulations in all work activities.
- Extensive experience in electrical maintenance within substations.
- 8-10 years of field experience in high and medium voltage switching, complemented by relevant technical qualifications.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Familiarity with safety protocols and public safety regulations.
- Knowledge of maintenance testing standards and quality assurance processes.
- Understanding of electrical power equipment, including transformers, circuit breakers, and SCADA systems.
- Experience in renewable energy generation, particularly in wind and solar sectors.
- Ability to learn and adapt to new technical information and engage external expertise when necessary.
- Effective communication skills for sharing best practices and presenting information to leadership.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel as required.
