About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Drywall Installation Specialist to join our team at Fortuna Foam Inc. as a key member of our construction team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine work requirements and ensure accurate installation.
  • Apply successive coats of compound and sand seams and joints to achieve a smooth finish.
  • Install suspended metal ceiling grids and place panels to form acoustical and coffered ceilings.
  • Clean and prepare surfaces for installation, ensuring a dust-free environment.
  • Cure freshly plastered surfaces to achieve the desired finish.
  • Measure, cut, fit, and install drywall sheets to meet project specifications.
  • Mix plaster ingredients to the desired consistency for a smooth application.
  • Mould and install ornamental plaster panels, cornices, and trim to add decorative elements.
  • Position and secure sheets to metal or wooden studs or joists, ensuring a secure fit.
  • Smooth out excess compound and allow coats to dry, achieving a seamless finish.
  • Spray acoustic or texture materials over walls and ceilings to enhance sound quality and appearance.
  • Tape over joints using a taping machine and embed tape in compound for a strong bond.
  • Trowel or spray coats of stucco over exteriors of buildings to form weatherproof surfaces.
  • Install exterior and interior steel studs, ensuring a sturdy framework.
  • Install metal stud framing and furring for interior drywall or plaster walls and ceilings, using hand and power tools.
  • Install vapour barriers and thermal and sound insulation to meet building codes and regulations.
  • Prepare wall and ceiling layouts to ensure accurate installation and meet project specifications.
  • Utilize laser alignment systems to ensure precise measurements and installation.
  • Work at heights, on scaffolding or swing stages, with a focus on safety and adherence to regulations.
  • Erect and install scaffolding, falsework, and other working platforms to facilitate safe work practices.
Requirements
  • Secondary (high) school graduation certificate.
  • 2 years to less than 3 years of experience in drywall installation and finishing.
  • Ability to work at heights and in a dusty environment.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
  • Physical stamina to perform manual labor and work in a fast-paced environment.

Language and Work Term

Hours of Work
