Job Title: Senior Azure Data Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Azure Data Engineer to lead the migration of data to our Azure cloud platform. The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing and operationalizing data solutions on Microsoft's Azure platform.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Configure and manage Synapse workspaces, create templates to automate deployments, and design, setup, and configure security groups to allow teams to perform their work based on their roles in the Unit.
  • Develop and document standards for access, including process and procedures across the development, quality assurance (QA), and operations teams, and facilitate auditing.
  • Establish workflows and procedures to migrate artifacts between Development, QA, and Production environments with approval controls, automate migrations and deployments via Azure DevOps CI/CD efficiently, and reduce manual steps and effort required for these migrations.
  • Closely monitor Azure service expenditures, produce daily cost reports, and execute strategies to optimize resource utilization cost-effectively.
  • Monitor activities and jobs, as well as overall orchestration workflow, maintain measures for operational efficiency across all Azure objects, and utilize tools to keep tabs on system health and flag and resolve issues or anomalies proactively.
  • Collaborate with other teams to offer Azure-related guidance and technical support, and maintain comprehensive documentation covering Azure architecture, settings, design rationale, and operational procedures to facilitate knowledge transfer and smooth ongoing operations.
Requirements:
  • 10+ years of experience implementing and designing scalable cloud solutions using Azure.
  • Extensive experience in Microsoft and Google suite of products, including Azure Synapse, SQL Azure, Data Management gateway.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize multiple projects, strong analytical and effective communication skills, and excellent documentation skills.
  • Excellent understanding of data movement and database design, and experience with Azure Synapse, Dedicated SQL Pools, storage accounts, and Data Lakes.
