Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Indigenous Liaison to join our team at Coast Mental Health. As a key member of our HUB team, you will play a vital role in providing culturally safe and trauma-informed care to Indigenous clients and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with Indigenous clients to assess their needs and provide support in a culturally safe manner.
  • Coordinate client spiritual care requests and facilitate access to sacred spaces to support Indigenous practices and customs.
  • Advocate and counsel clients on emotional and practical problems, and identify their needs for services and supports.
  • Act as a resource for staff on culturally respectful care and establish effective working relationships with community-based agencies and healthcare providers.
  • Develop and maintain a list of relevant community referral services and Indigenous community-based agencies that serve our clients.
  • Document client care activities daily and perform other duties as requested.
Requirements
  • Demonstrated knowledge, experience, and understanding of Indigenous people and their culture.
  • Comprehensive understanding and experience delivering culturally safe, trauma-informed care.
  • Solid understanding of the historical and current effects of colonization, intergenerational trauma, and residential schools.
  • Degree or diploma in a relevant Social Sciences discipline or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Recent, related experience of two years.
  • Ability to provide/obtain required certifications and clearances upon hire.
