Position Overview:
The Senior Analyst will be a key contributor within the Budgets & Forecast team, directly reporting to the Senior Manager. This role encompasses the financial oversight of monthly and quarterly projections, the annual budgeting process, and the corporate performance scorecard management. Additionally, the Senior Analyst will oversee the administration of forecasting applications, gaining insights from operational and financial data across the entire asset portfolio.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as a representative for Budgets & Forecast in collaborative project teams to facilitate the annual budgeting process.
- Conduct consolidation and analysis of the annual budget for executive and Board-level reporting, including comparative analysis with previous forecasts.
- Generate monthly forecasts and quarterly materials for the Board utilizing the Forecast Consolidation Model, ensuring detailed financial analysis to assess the impacts of model assumptions.
- Prepare updates for the corporate performance scorecard on a monthly basis for the executive team.
- Manage BPC and Spotfire tools, including access control, data stewardship, and troubleshooting.
- Ensure that information is presented effectively to support timely and critical decision-making, focusing on the most significant operational and financial data.
- Interpret and develop accounting processes proactively to align with financial reporting standards.
- Support corporate initiatives involving acquisitions, divestments, or other projects that necessitate budget, forecast, and scorecard assessments.
- Conduct ad hoc analyses to assist in strategy sessions, budgeting, long-term business planning, and investor presentations.
Candidate Profile:
- Legally authorized to work in Canada.
- Possesses a university degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline, along with a CPA or CFA designation.
- Brings a minimum of 8 years of experience in business analysis, financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.
- Exhibits exceptional written and verbal communication skills across all organizational levels.
- Demonstrates strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
- Shows motivation and a positive attitude, with a proven ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Possesses strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Exhibits good organizational and time management abilities.
- Effectively engages and influences cross-functional teams, including senior leadership, while driving continuous improvement.
- Experience with SAP, BPC, Spotfire, and PlanningSpace is considered advantageous.
- Experience in the oil and gas sector is a plus.
