The DevOps division is seeking a seasoned Senior DevOps Engineer to enhance our team. We are in search of individuals who possess a strong enthusiasm for technology and have substantial experience in architecting, deploying, and managing solutions within a public cloud ecosystem that integrates with corporate backend systems and services. A Senior DevOps Engineer will be responsible for crafting solutions from inception, diagnosing issues at both the network and Linux operating system levels, and collaborating effectively across various teams with differing skill sets.
Reporting to the Technical Director, you will work closely with the Operations Development Director and Technical Director to assess and execute projects, ensuring outstanding outcomes. You should have a proven track record of managing large-scale systems and balancing competing priorities within the team. Your focus will be on system uptime and reliability. You are dedicated to developing automation to minimize manual interventions. Additionally, this role will require some on-call support responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement technical solutions in a secure and maintainable manner that reduces manual effort for the team.
- Resolve deployment challenges, connectivity issues, performance bottlenecks, and service availability disruptions.
- Establish a deployment and support framework that complies with DevOps security protocols.
- Create tools that enhance productivity by automating routine system administration tasks.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of system configurations and procedures, including operational runbooks.
- Support a continuously available gaming server infrastructure.
- Provide on-call assistance as necessary for feature launches, live events, and urgent escalations.
- Diagnose and rectify issues arising from production and live service operations.
- Assess and integrate technologies that enhance team efficiency and platform capabilities.
Qualifications:
- Over 6 years of relevant experience with public cloud platforms (notably Azure, AWS, and GCP), encompassing design, implementation, and operational support of critical systems.
- Hands-on experience with various DevOps tools and practices:
- Infrastructure as Code solutions like Terraform.
- Container orchestration technologies such as Kubernetes, Helm, and Docker.
- Configuration management tools like Chef and Ansible.
- Monitoring and observability tools such as Prometheus and Grafana.
- Pipeline automation tools like Jenkins, GitLab, and GitHub.
- Experience in developing automated solutions using at least one of the following programming languages: Python, Ruby, or Go.
- Familiarity with the Git version control system.
- Proven expertise in operating system and network security fundamentals for publicly accessible services hosted on Linux servers.
- Understanding and experience in implementing network resources in a public cloud context, including DNS, subnetting, route tables, NAT, and firewalls.
- Basic knowledge of database concepts such as schema design, relational database management systems, NoSQL/Key-Value stores, performance optimization, client security, and configuration.
- Experience migrating large applications from on-premises data centers to public cloud environments.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
The base salary ranges are reflective of the defined geographic market pay zones. If you reside outside these areas, a recruiter will provide information on the salary range and benefits applicable to your specific location.
BASE SALARY RANGES
• British Columbia (varies by location):
o $115,100 - $161,200 CAN Annually
Base salary is one component of the overall compensation package at EA, which also includes benefits such as vacation (3 weeks per year to start), 10 days of sick leave annually, paid top-up to EI/QPIP benefits up to 100% of base salary for new parents (12 weeks for maternity and 4 weeks for parental/adoption leave), comprehensive health/dental/vision coverage, life insurance, disability insurance, and a retirement plan for regular full-time employees. Certain roles may also qualify for bonuses and equity.
