Position Summary

The 2nd Year Electrical Apprentice will play a crucial role in the installation and termination of conduits, cables, equipment, panels, sensors, and various control components for our projects. This position involves constructing and fabricating control panels and systems, as well as performing essential wiring checks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute the installation and termination of conduits, cables, equipment, panels, sensors, and various control components.
  • Construct and fabricate control panels, along with rough and finish wiring and control systems.
  • Carry out the installation of interlocking wiring and perform comprehensive wiring checks.
  • Ensure compliance with the NEC, NESC, NFPA, and UFC standards during installation of system components and wiring.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain electrical control circuits for motors and various electrical devices.
  • Provide accurate material take-offs for electrical facilities equipment needs.
  • Suggest modifications to plans to improve operational efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Maintain accuracy and completion of assigned tasks and projects.
  • Test installed, repaired, or modified equipment to ensure proper performance.
  • Conduct maintenance tasks including cleaning and lubricating equipment.
  • Keep detailed maintenance reports and documentation.
  • Stay informed about advancements in technology, compliance, and repair techniques.
  • Monitor parts usage and report any material issues.
  • Assist in the preparation of preventative and predictive maintenance schedules.
  • Adhere to safety program standards and relevant occupational health and safety regulations.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Registered as an apprentice electrician in Alberta and enrolled in a recognized trade school.
  • Ability to work under the guidance of journeyman electricians, both independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience in routine electrical maintenance operations is advantageous.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate in a diverse work environment.
  • Proficient in verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to perform well under pressure.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Capable of interacting with individuals in a sensitive and professional manner.
