Job Title: AVP - Data Governance

At Aviva, we're committed to building a culture of excellence in data governance. As our AVP - Data Governance, you'll play a critical role in shaping our data strategy and ensuring the effective use of data across the organization.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and lead the data governance strategy, aligning with Aviva's overall mission and values.
  • Collaborate with internal partners to proactively address regulatory changes and ensure compliance with data governance standards.
  • Work closely with IT, CDO office, and data owners to build a compelling strategy for improving data standards and practices.
  • Maintain alignment between group frameworks and policies, providing adequate reporting and ensuring data risks are understood and articulated.
  • Grow data literacy and maturity across the organization through effective communication strategies and training.
  • Build, monitor, and maintain data risks and controls, ensuring existing risks are led back to tolerance and emerging risks are understood.
  • Communicate data governance activity, data risks, and issues to senior leaders through the Operational Risk Forum and Conduct Committee.
Requirements:
  • 15+ years of experience in data management and data governance, with a strong background in risk and controls.
  • Bachelor's and/or master's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Business, or related fields.
  • Demonstrable experience in leading data governance and risk functions within a large organization.
  • Team management experience, including developing teams with an enterprise function or mandate.
  • Validated data and technology literacy, with the ability to describe use cases and outcomes, data sources, and management concepts.
  • Hardworking and innovative, with the ability to inspire colleagues and achieve buy-in from partners.
