Responsibilities:

  • To provide high-quality nursing care in accordance with established policies, physician's orders, and the resident plan of care, within the scope of practice of a Nurse Practitioner.
  • To utilize sound nursing practice principles to ensure the delivery of excellent nursing and personal care in the assigned home area(s).
  • To ensure timely and accessible admissions for residents, including a comprehensive orientation to the home and the services offered within the home.
  • To ensure resident transfers and discharges are timely and safe.
  • To ensure the supply, control, and safekeeping of drugs and narcotics, and to follow protocols on all assigned shifts.
  • To be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care to meet the physical, psychological, emotional, spiritual, cultural, and social needs of the residents.

Requirements:

  • Active registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Able to work with persons with infectious diseases.
  • BLS Certificate.
  • Valid First Aid & CPR.
  • Proof of current immunizations for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, and Varicella (MMRV) and negative TB skin test within one year, as well as Hepatitis B.
  • Current Vulnerable Sector Police Check.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work flexible shift times, including eight or twelve hours in length.
  • Ability to 'float' from unit to unit within a hospital, depending on facility need.
  • Reliability in accepting and adhering to assigned shifts and facility/unit placements.
  • Compliance with the RhynoCare Healthcare shift acceptance/cancellation policy.
