About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Chemical Engineering student to join our team at the Strathcona Refinery in Edmonton, AB. As a Process Engineering Student, you will have the opportunity to work under the guidance of experienced staff Chemical Engineers and gain a comprehensive understanding of petrochemical refining processes, process safety, process controls, and unit optimization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify, develop, and implement operational and facility improvements focused on safety, reliability, economics, and sustainability.
  • Effectively communicate the status of unit operation, improvement opportunities, and operating costs to various stakeholders.
  • Support safe and reliable unit operation by working with multiple stakeholders, including operations, reliability, process technical, and automation engineers.
Requirements
  • Currently enrolled in a University Engineering program and returning to full-time studies after the work term.
  • Studying to achieve a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering (or related discipline).
  • University Engineering student available for a work term beginning in January 2025.
  • Demonstrated leadership and strong academic skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous industry experience is considered beneficial, but not essential.
  • Commitment to safety on and off the job.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English are required for all roles.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and in a team-based environment.
