We are seeking a highly skilled FSQA Supervisor/HACCP Specialist to join our team at Maple Leaf Foods Inc. as a key leader on our Food Safety and Quality Assurance team. As a critical member of our organization, you will play a vital role in ensuring the effective execution of our Quality Assurance and Food Safety programs and protocols at our facility.
This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and experienced professional to lead and coach a team of QA Technicians and/or QA Coordinators, ensuring that tasks are conducted consistently, efficiently, and aligned with the needs of the business. You will be responsible for maintaining, updating, and ensuring the consistent execution of QA programs to align with internal and external requirements.
As a FSQA Supervisor/HACCP Specialist, you will be responsible for:
- Maintaining, updating, and ensuring the consistent execution of QA programs to align with internal and external requirements.
- Supervising a staff of QA Technicians and/or QA Coordinators, ensuring that tasks are conducted consistently, efficiently, and aligned with the needs of the business.
- Planning QA staffing requirements according to production demands.
- Assisting with HACCP and MLF Food Safety and Quality program updates, maintenance, and verifications.
- Assisting with analysis of data to determine root cause of deficiencies and providing feedback on performance and necessary improvements.
- Assisting with third-party audits (CFIA, CVS, HACCP, BRC, FSQMS or customer) and preparing/coaching cross-functional managers before and during these audits.
- Participating in cross-functional SOP development and ensuring that facility SOPs and related documents are in correct format, properly stored, and distributed as per manufacturing excellence requirements.
- Conducting monthly GMP, internal, and external audits with cross-functional teams and identifying opportunities for improvement.
- Leading cross-functional teams in completing incident investigations where food safety or food quality may be compromised.
- Providing functional support to the crisis team, including backing up the QA Manager as recall site lead if required.
- Advancing an attitude of continuous process improvement and training of employees at hourly and salary levels.
- Leading the execution of various initiatives to improve the quality and safety of our products.
- Supporting and/or leading change management activities related to processes, programs, and/or systems.
- Supporting the FSQA team as required (back-up for various roles, etc).
We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced professional with a strong background in food safety and quality assurance. The ideal candidate will have:
- A university degree or college diploma in a related discipline, such as Chemistry, Microbiology, Food Science, or a related field.
- 3 to 5 years of experience in food-related roles, with a strong understanding of GMP and HACCP principles and programs.
- Proven experience in HACCP program development, implementation, and auditing.
- Excellent leadership and coaching skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a team.
- Superior communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with cross-functional teams.
- Strong organizational and systems skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Demonstrated alignment to the Maple Leaf Leadership Values.
