Position Overview

Location: Esquimalt Graving Dock
Employment Type: Part-Time and Full-Time
Shifts: Varied schedules including days, evenings, and overnight shifts
Compensation: $19.38 per hour with employer RRSP contributions
Reporting Structure: Reports to Site Supervisor

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Access Management: Oversee and regulate entry to the facility, ensuring that only authorized individuals gain access. Verify identities and issue temporary access passes as necessary.
  2. Surveillance Patrols: Perform regular patrols to identify and deter any suspicious behavior or potential security risks.
  3. Monitoring Systems: Operate and oversee surveillance and alarm systems to detect and respond to security breaches.
  4. Emergency Response: Act swiftly to security incidents, alarms, and emergencies, taking appropriate measures to mitigate risks.
  5. Documentation: Compile detailed incident reports, daily logs, and other security-related documentation. Maintain effective communication with supervisors and fellow security personnel.
  6. Visitor Assistance: Provide support and guidance to visitors and staff, ensuring a positive experience while upholding security protocols.
Qualifications and Skills:

  1. Possession of a valid BC Security Workers License or willingness to obtain one.
  2. Eligibility for Secret Security Clearance and must be at least 19 years old.
  3. Strong observational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  4. Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  5. Capability to remain composed in high-pressure scenarios.
  6. Familiarity with security technology, including alarm and access control systems.
  7. Physical fitness to perform duties that require extended periods of standing, walking, and patrolling.
Working Environment:

  1. Shift work, including nights, weekends, and holidays, may be necessary.
  2. Ability to work in various weather conditions, particularly during outdoor patrols.
  3. The role necessitates standing or walking for prolonged durations.
