About the Role

As a Data Warehouse Business Systems Analyst with a focus on the Insurance industry, you will play a crucial role in shaping and optimizing our data-driven strategies. You'll collaborate closely with stakeholders across various departments to understand their needs, analyze existing systems, and design innovative solutions that enhance business processes and drive operational efficiency.

Your Responsibilities

  • Engage with decision-makers, system owners, and business users to define requirements, establish goals, and identify areas for improvement within our data warehouse infrastructure.
  • Lead design sessions to prototype new systems that streamline workflows, enhance operational effectiveness, and improve information flow across the organization.
  • Conduct thorough reviews of existing systems to assess their performance, efficiency, and alignment with organizational objectives. Develop actionable strategies for optimization and leveraging these systems to their full potential.
  • Define the scope and parameters of systems analysis projects, ensuring clear outcome criteria and measurable success indicators.
  • Develop and implement short-term tactical plans for managing and maintaining our corporate systems and software applications.
  • Ensure that proposed and existing system architectures are seamlessly integrated with overall organizational goals and objectives.
  • Guarantee compatibility and interoperability between in-house computing systems to foster a cohesive and efficient technological environment.
  • Collaborate with business users to gather, analyze, validate, and obtain approval for comprehensive Business Requirements Specifications.
  • Create detailed models of business processes and systems using use case scenarios, workflow diagrams, and data models to provide a clear understanding of system functionalities.
  • Monitor the data warehouse environment closely for potential data quality issues arising from daily/monthly data loads.
  • Perform rigorous cross-validation between source applications and the data warehouse, as well as business intelligence tools, to ensure consistency and reliability of data across all systems.
  • Work with the business to prepare cost-benefit and return on investment analyses for proposed systems, providing valuable insights to support management decision-making regarding implementation.
  • Develop comprehensive system models, business requirement specifications, diagrams, and charts to guide Application Developers in building effective solutions.
  • Coordinate the definition of test cases for Quality Assurance and User Acceptance Testing (UAT) phases.
  • Provide comprehensive orientation and training, including the creation of training materials, to business users on modified and newly implemented systems.

Your Qualifications

  • A college diploma or university degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, or Management Information Systems.
  • 5+ years of experience working within the Insurance industry and 5+ years as a Business Analyst.
  • Experience with Guidewire is highly advantageous.
  • Proven track record of 5+ years in hands-on business and data analysis within data warehousing environments, leading enterprise data warehousing projects throughout their lifecycle.
  • In-depth knowledge of data modeling techniques, database design concepts, and relational databases is essential.
  • Working technical proficiency in SQL programming languages, ETL processes, and relevant tools.
  • Ability to write effective SQL queries and understand technical specifications to ensure proposed solutions meet business requirements.
  • Experience with designing, developing, and supporting business intelligence tools such as Qlikview, Tableau, or Power BI for enterprise data warehouses.
  • Demonstrated experience in overseeing the design, development, and implementation of software and hardware solutions, systems, or applications.
