POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Facilitate the execution of proactive and predictive maintenance strategies for locomotive fleets, enhancing reliability across critical subsystems through practical expertise.
  • Disseminate technical communications and instructions, including work scopes, quality alerts, and updates on maintenance policies and reliability enhancement initiatives.
  • Conduct audits to ensure compliance with documented work scopes and maintenance protocols across all fleets and repair programs.
  • Collaborate with management and technical staff to provide insights on locomotive troubleshooting and repair methodologies.
  • Deliver comprehensive technical support at the facility for various locomotive systems, including PTC and RCLS, while also assisting other facilities with urgent issues.
  • Offer on-site technical assistance and training to the mechanical shop as needed for program rollouts and new technologies.
  • Assess emerging locomotive technologies to bolster fleet reliability as required.
  • Supervise and support on-the-job training for craft personnel, including apprenticeships and training on new fleets and technologies.
  • Work closely with T&E to address locomotive issues and identify operator errors during investigations.
  • Provide hands-on training for new employees and facilitate cross-functional training alongside technical education, ensuring effective troubleshooting at the shop level.
  • Advise on locomotive modifications and upgrades, as well as troubleshooting procedures.
  • Guide and support testing of locomotive operations.
  • Collaborate with the reliability team to provide insights on failure trends and locomotive modifications.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • High School Diploma or General Equivalence Diploma is required; post-secondary education is an asset.
  • 10-15 years of field experience in locomotive maintenance, specifically with GE and EMD fleets.
  • Experience in North American locomotive maintenance is essential.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is required.
  • Familiarity with SAP Plant Maintenance is an asset.
  • Strong coaching and mentoring abilities are necessary.
  • Extensive background in locomotive systems, both electrical and mechanical.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and French, both written and verbal, is required.
