Job Summary
The Government of Alberta is seeking a highly skilled Paralegal Specialist to join our team in the Civil Forfeiture Office. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in managing substantive and procedural legal work, including administrative responsibilities for assigned files.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and analyze police referrals, determine completeness, identify issues, and prepare file summaries for lawyers.
- Manage and organize files and voluminous records, ensuring compliance with common law principles, legislation, and regulations.
- Liaise with police, Crown prosecutors, and lawyers handling civil forfeiture cases regarding referrals, file status, and other matters.
- Utilize various tools, including Microsoft Office, databases, and other software, to carry out responsibilities.
- Perform other paralegal duties as required, ensuring high-quality work and meeting critical deadlines.
Requirements
- Highly developed research, writing, and technical skills, with the ability to work accurately and promptly.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple files.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with police, lawyers, and other stakeholders.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with a high level of attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
