Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Software Engineer to join our Global Wealth Management Technology team at Scotiabank. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing scalable and secure software solutions to support our wealth management business lines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Technical Leadership: Provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members, ensuring the highest standards of coding practices and software quality.
  • Software Development: Design, develop, and implement microservices in the cloud (Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure) using Java, SOAP, and JSON.
  • Application Integration: Develop and implement application integration solutions using Spring Boot and Cloud Foundry.
  • Technical Documentation: Create and maintain technical documentation of software solutions, including architecture diagrams and technical specifications.
  • Problem-Solving: Troubleshoot technical issues, identify root causes, and provide expert advice to key stakeholders.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including business stakeholders, to understand business requirements and deliver solutions that meet their needs.

Requirements

  • Experience: At least 7 years of experience as a Java developer, with a strong background in software development, architecture, and design.
  • Skills: Proficient in building scalable, enterprise-level technology stacks, with experience in application architecture, API design, and microservices development.
  • Cloud Computing: Experience with cloud platforms, including Google Cloud and Microsoft Azure.
  • Agile Methodologies: Strong understanding of Agile principles and experience working in Agile environments.
  • Security: Experience in developing security systems and analyzing current systems for vulnerabilities.
  • Version Control: Proficient in version control systems, including Git and Bitbucket.
