Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with daily living activities, including bathing, dressing, and grooming, to promote independence and dignity.
  • Provide emotional support and companionship to residents, engaging in activities that promote social interaction and a sense of community.
  • Assist with mobility and transfers, ensuring residents' safety and comfort while maintaining their independence.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by healthcare professionals, following established protocols and procedures.
  • Monitor and report changes in residents' conditions, collaborating with healthcare teams to ensure timely interventions and optimal care.
  • Participate in resident care planning, contributing to the development and implementation of individualized care plans that meet residents' unique needs and goals.
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment, adhering to infection control and safety protocols to prevent accidents and ensure a healthy living environment.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, working closely with healthcare professionals, therapists, and other support staff to ensure comprehensive care and support.
Requirements
  • Education: College, CEGEP, or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years.
  • Experience: 1 year to less than 2 years in a related field.
  • Language: English.
  • Work Setting: Nursing home/home for the aged.
  • Weight Handling: Up to 23 kg (50 lbs).
  • Personal Suitability: Client focus, dependability, efficient interpersonal skills, excellent oral communication, flexibility, initiative, judgement, organized, reliability, team player, patience.
