About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Drywall Installation Specialist to join our team at Square Mile Development Inc. as a key member of our construction crew.

Key Responsibilities
  • Apply successive coats of compound and sand seams and joints to ensure a smooth finish.
  • Install metal corner beads to protect exterior corners and fabricate and install suspended metal ceiling grids.
  • Clean and prepare surfaces for installation, including cutting and fitting drywall sheets to size.
  • Position and secure sheets to metal or wooden studs or joists, ensuring a level and secure fit.
  • Smooth out excess compound and allow coats to dry, taping over joints using a taping machine and embedding tape in compound.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
  • Work in a fast-paced construction environment, with frequent bending, crouching, and kneeling required.
  • Handle heavy loads and work in physically demanding conditions.
Support for Newcomers and Refugees
  • Participate in a government or community program that supports newcomers and refugees, assisting with immediate settlement needs and social and labour market integration.
  • Recruit and support newcomers and refugees who were displaced by conflict or natural disaster, providing mentorship and diversity training.
Requirements
  • Secondary (high) school graduation certificate.
  • 1 year to less than 2 years of experience in drywall installation.

  • Work Language: English.
  • Hours: 40 hours per week.
