Job Summary

This role will allow the candidate to develop their basic technical knowledge on our products, from manufacturing to final use. By familiarizing themselves with the different functions of the company, projects, and responsibilities, the candidate will also gain a better understanding of our activities. The program offers a rotation-based exposure to a variety of work environments such as sales and marketing, product development, and laboratories, operations in the field, manufacturing, and technical services. The candidate must therefore have the ability and desire to be mobile in Eastern Canada for future assignments.

Key Responsibilities

  • The candidate must demonstrate their commitment to communicating, improving, and observing Lafarge's safety policies in all environments and work sectors.
  • They will also ensure that all aspects of their role are executed in a safe manner.

Performance and Optimization

  • The candidate will analyze cement and compare test results with standards, tolerances, and objectives to ensure product performance (cement and slurry).
  • They will provide regular feedback on product performance and any deviations in results or trends to the technical director.
  • They will participate in inter-functional committees on product quality and must stay up-to-date on Lafarge product performance and competition.

Product Development

  • The candidate will participate in research and development projects by coordinating product development efforts between sales and production, including test design and data analysis to formulate conclusions and recommendations.
  • In some cases, the candidate will support research and development initiatives by conducting necessary tests.
  • They will also support the development of information to promote new uses of existing products and their successful introduction to the market.

Technical Support

  • The candidate will assist the technical services engineer and sales technical representatives in resolving regular client issues related to products.
  • They may assist in providing support to clients on cement, cement products, concrete, and mortar.

Interactions with Others

The incumbent will interact/collaborate with the following individuals and functions:

  • Supervisor and laboratory technicians in Montreal
  • Technical services/sales representatives
  • Quality service in various cement plants/milling stations

Specific Tasks

The candidate will:

  • Collect and analyze data
  • Provide feedback on product quality and uniformity
  • Actively support the development of new product offerings and/or services

Requirements

Education

  • University degree in engineering (civil or chemical engineering preferred)
  • Ability to communicate effectively in French and English

Knowledge

  • Knowledge of analytical techniques and instrumental analysis
  • Knowledge and experience in the cement, concrete, and/or aggregate sectors, an asset
  • Knowledge of basic statistical analysis and proficiency in MS Office, an asset
