Role Summary: In the capacity of a Senior Research Scientist in Robotic Manipulation, you will spearhead the design and execution of sophisticated reinforcement learning (RL) and imitation learning (IL) frameworks. Your responsibilities will encompass the establishment of training and data acquisition systems, assessing these frameworks in both simulated and practical settings, and employing cutting-edge haptic and proprioceptive sensing technologies with our proprietary robotic systems.

Key Duties:

  • Develop and refine RL and IL frameworks, ensuring successful real-world applications
  • Keep abreast of the latest advancements in RL/IL methodologies and their applications in robotics
  • Lead research projects and disseminate findings to the wider machine learning team
  • Enhance RL/IL training and data collection processes for physical robotic systems
  • Collaborate with a diverse team to innovate and resolve algorithmic challenges

Required Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Machine Learning, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, or equivalent practical experience in RL and IL
  • 5+ years of experience in robotic manipulation tasks, both in simulation and real-world contexts
  • 5+ years of experience applying RL and IL techniques, with a focus on real-world robotics
  • 4+ years of experience in developing and optimizing large-scale parallel simulations for RL
  • Demonstrated expertise in continual learning and sim-to-real transfer
  • Experience in transitioning machine learning research and models into operational settings
  • Active participation in integrating machine learning models into robotic platforms
  • A history of publishing research in prestigious AI conferences

Essential Skills:

  • Proficiency in Python 3.8 or later
  • Familiarity with PyTorch and/or TensorFlow
  • Knowledge of ROS2
  • Expertise in reinforcement learning principles and applications
  • Experience with project management tools such as Jira, Confluence, or similar
