Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Custodian II to join our team at Camosun College. As a key member of our facilities maintenance team, you will be responsible for providing a wide range of cleaning and custodial duties on our college buildings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strips, applies, and maintains floor finishes to ensure a safe and clean environment for students and staff.
  • Removes spots and extracts carpets and upholstery to maintain the appearance and longevity of our facilities.
  • Uses a variety of chemicals specific to project work in accordance with established training to ensure effective and safe cleaning practices.
  • Carries out routine maintenance on custodial equipment to ensure optimal performance and extend its lifespan.
  • Monitors and reports unsafe conditions or situations to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Arms and disarms building security systems as required.
  • Performs other related duties similar in scope and complexity as assigned by the Supervisor Custodial Services.
Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • Grade 10 or equivalent plus BSW 1 course related to institutional or industrial custodial skills.
  • One year of related experience or equivalent.
  • Some knowledge of machines and equipment associated with custodial service.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with college staff and the public.
