About the Opportunity

We are seeking highly skilled and experienced individuals to join our team as Spare Winter Equipment Operators in Lunenburg and Queens counties. As a member of our team, you will be responsible for operating snow removal equipment, including snowplows, graders, and loaders, to ensure safe and efficient snow and ice control.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate snow removal equipment, including snowplows, graders, and loaders, to clear roads and sidewalks
  • Perform general maintenance of equipment, including pre-and-post trip inspections and daily logs
  • May be required to perform other work, such as maintaining signs, road surface repairs, and traffic control
Requirements
  • Two years of experience or an acceptable equivalency of education, training, and relevant experience
  • Minimum of Class III license with air brake endorsement
  • Reading and writing skills to understand department documentation and complete daily logs, inspection reports, etc.
Preferred Qualifications
  • A professional driving course from a recognized truck driving training facility
  • Knowledge of hydraulic systems and mechanical skills
  • Training completed at any accredited heavy/commercial equipment training institute
  • Previous experience driving a manual transmission, operating trucks with salt and plow equipment, and/or knowledge of salt spreading systems
