This esteemed company operates within the uranium sector, and their ongoing project is anticipated to be among the most efficient uranium mines globally. Below are the essential qualifications for the role.

Qualified individuals will be contacted for an initial screening call. This position will be based in the project office with regular rotations to the project site.
Role Overview:
Reporting to the Project Director, the Director of Surface Construction will lead efforts to ensure that outstanding standards are upheld across all facets of construction execution planning and implementation throughout the design, detailed engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning phases of the project.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee safety planning associated with the construction activities.
  • Supervise project contractors and consultants during the engineering and construction phases.
  • Develop execution strategies, timelines, cost projections, and risk assessments for the project.
  • Ensure adherence to safety, health, and environmental policies, coordinating with the project team to identify and prepare necessary construction-related reporting metrics.
  • Manage and supervise construction services provided by contractors, including comprehensive reviews and approvals of construction deliverables.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and contractors to establish field and construction procedures aligned with organizational policies.
  • Implement community engagement strategies for construction-related activities.
  • Set priorities with the project team and consultants in design, procurement, planning, and scheduling.
  • Provide feedback and endorsement for construction estimates, budgets, forecasts, and schedules in collaboration with the construction management contractor.
  • Oversee all surface construction operations, ensuring quality and accuracy in the infrastructure development.
  • Meet environmental requirements and assist in the permitting process.
  • Direct construction supervisors to ensure project success, monitoring project health concerning safety, scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of project requirements regarding scope, cost, and schedule.
  • Support the engineering team by providing input into engineering activities, including technical reviews and final approval of documents.
  • Supervise vendor and contractor surface construction activities, including technical reviews and approvals related to engineering and design.
  • Ensure that licensing and permitting requirements are integrated into engineering workflows.
  • Work collaboratively with operations to incorporate operational readiness into design and engineering deliverables.
  • Identify opportunities for safety, technology, productivity, and cost improvements while safeguarding health, environment, and property.
  • Ensure thorough execution of necessary engineering and design processes.
  • Facilitate timely decision-making and address technical clarifications.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • 10 to 15 years of experience in heavy construction or mining infrastructure projects.
  • 7+ years in a project management role leading surface construction in the resource sector.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and solve complex problems.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively at all organizational levels.
  • High attention to detail, a robust work ethic, and excellent organizational capabilities.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative, and dynamic environment with professionalism and discretion.
  • Experience in leadership roles on projects utilizing EPCM and EPC delivery models.
