Job Title: Research & Development Food Scientist

At Vertical Staffing Resources, we are seeking a highly skilled Research & Development Food Scientist to join our team. As a key member of our R&D team, you will be responsible for supporting the development of new food products and processes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate the product development process, including product formulation, sourcing ingredients and suppliers, and developing prototypes.
  • Develop and modify new and existing formulas/products, identifying and documenting critical trial parameters.
  • Coordinate and attend plant trials, working with various departments to bring new products and processes from ideation to production.
  • Monitor the marketplace to identify potential innovation areas, trends, and competing products.
  • Assist with cost savings projects and support manufacturing by providing technical troubleshooting in situations where formula changes can resolve production issues.
  • Compile information and data for designated projects, preparing SR&ED reports as needed.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry, Food Science, Microbiology, or a related field.
  • 2+ years R&D experience in the food industry, with a strong focus on Canadian and US food safety regulations.
  • Robust knowledge of food safety regulations and compliance programs.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and meet deadlines.
  • Practical experience using Genesis (Nutrition Software) is considered a strong asset.
