Radiation Surveyor

We are seeking a highly skilled Radiation Surveyor to join our team at Canadian Nuclear Laboratories. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our facilities.

• Provide Radiological Protection Advice: Offer guidance to supervisors and staff on radiological protection controls for in-field work activities.
• Direct Contamination Monitoring: Supervise the work of contamination monitors in radiation survey and contamination control work.
• Perform Routine Radiation Surveys: Conduct daily routine radiation surveys and post radiation caution signs at points of high radiation.
• Identify and Mitigate Radioactivity Hazards: Maintain a thorough understanding of all operations being carried out in a working area to foresee radioactivity hazards and initiate control measures.
• Exercise Judgment and Discretion: Offer advice requiring clear differentiation between situations where compromise is acceptable and situations where radiation control requirements must be considered.
• Assume Responsibility for Radiation Hazard Control: Take ownership of radiation hazard control throughout the Gentilly 1 site and Laprade when on shift.
• Investigate Radiation Control Problems: Conduct investigations of radiation control problems, construct special equipment, and carry out technical work associated with personnel, air, soil, and plant effluent monitoring programs.

• Education: Graduation from a recognized institute of advanced technology in a field relevant to the position, or equivalent formal education.
• Experience: Experience in the nuclear industry is preferred.
• Language Skills: Bilingual (English/French) essential.
• Security Clearance: Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC) required.
