Job Summary:

The Salvation Army is seeking a Part-Time Residential Counsellor to join our team. As a Residential Counsellor, you will provide support and care to individuals with developmental disabilities and mental health challenges in our residential settings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide personal care and hygiene support to residents
  • Develop and implement individualized support plans to promote community integration and independence
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals, consultants, and other stakeholders to ensure comprehensive care
  • Manage crisis situations and provide de-escalation support as needed
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, policies, and procedures

Requirements:

  • Completed Developmental Services Worker Diploma or related degree/diploma
  • Valid and current Standard First Aid Certificate and CPR Level C Certificate
  • Ability to achieve Nonviolent Crisis Intervention certificate
  • Minimum 6-12 months' experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities and mental health challenges
  • Experience with implementing Individual Support Plans and medication administration

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with individuals with dual diagnosis
  • Strong counselling and de-escalation skills
  • Ability to undergo applicable screening and background checks
