This pivotal position encompasses all facets of the cultivation process, including greenhouse management, organic practices, team leadership, and ongoing enhancement of operations.
The successful candidate will collaborate closely with our Senior Greenhouse Manager to execute Integrated Pest Management (IPM), climate control, nutritional strategies, and crop management in alignment with FVOPA organic standards. This role is essential in maintaining the highest levels of quality and efficiency in our cannabis production.
Key Responsibilities- Implement Cultivation Strategy:
- Ensure consistent application of our cultivation processes from propagation to harvest.
- Coordinate with engineering and maintenance teams to maintain optimal greenhouse infrastructure.
- Manage nutrition, irrigation, and IPM programs, responding proactively to crop information.
- Conduct regular assessments of plant health, implementing preventative measures and resolving issues as they arise.
- Utilize specialized knowledge to enhance greenhouse conditions, monitoring environmental factors such as light, temperature, and humidity.
- Maximize plant health and yield through effective crop management strategies throughout all growth stages.
- Design and refine production strategies with a keen focus on detail and commitment to quality.
- Leadership in Cultivation:
- Partner with the Cultivation Labour Manager to develop and implement efficient cultivation schedules.
- Work alongside the strategy and crop science teams to innovate and enhance growing techniques.
- Manage changes through careful experimentation and present improvement opportunities to leadership.
- Team Leadership:
- Collaborate with the Cultivation Labour Manager to build teams and foster a culture of accountability.
- Oversee a diverse workforce of over 40 personnel, including managers, supervisors, and technicians.
- Provide mentorship and training to promote professional growth among team members.
- Establish effective communication channels to facilitate collaboration across various departments.
- Manage recruitment, onboarding, and performance evaluations of team members.
- Continuous Development:
- Regularly analyze production metrics to identify opportunities for efficiency improvements.
- Collaborate with Operations and Research teams to integrate new technologies and methodologies.
- Stay informed on industry trends and regulatory changes to ensure compliance and maintain a competitive advantage.
- Bachelor's degree in Horticulture, Agriculture, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
- Demonstrated experience in managing large-scale greenhouse operations with a focus on environmental control.
- Extensive knowledge of cannabis cultivation practices, plant biology, and greenhouse technologies.
- Exceptional leadership and team management capabilities.
