Job Summary:
Ultra Electronics Group is seeking an experienced Manager Systems Engineering to lead our Systems Engineering team in Canada. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for managing and developing Systems Engineers to ensure the business has the skills, processes, and headcount to deliver its strategic objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership and Management: Lead and manage a team of Systems Engineers to deliver high-quality engineering solutions to our customers.
- Process Improvement: Identify, develop, and implement process improvements to meet current and emergent engineering requirements in-line with the business strategic vision and Systems Engineering best practices.
- Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with Chief Engineers, Engineering Managers, and Project Managers to provide technical infrastructure, including engineering facilities and tools, required by the Systems Engineering team across all projects.
- Recruitment and Training: Recruit and manage Systems Engineers to support the short-, medium-, and long-term requirements of bids, projects, and the business.
- Performance Management: Ensure that suitable performance management, mentoring, and coaching is carried out throughout the Systems Engineering team to support staff development and retention.
- Succession Planning: Develop and manage succession plans for the Systems Engineering team.
- Design Reviews: Provide oversight and contribute to Design Reviews, including acting as Design Review Chair.
- Bid and Project Support: Work alongside projects to provide support to ensure delivery milestones are hit.
Requirements:
- Experience: Experience leading Systems Engineering teams, with a detailed knowledge of the Systems Engineering lifecycle and formal processes preferably in the defense sector.
- Education: Degree level (or equivalent experience) in the Systems Engineering discipline.
- Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the use of standard office tools and experience of engineering tools such as DOORS, UML tools, ERPs, and Configuration Management tools.
