About the Opportunity

The Nova Scotia Health and IWK Health organization is seeking a skilled Health Care Social Worker to join our interdisciplinary healthcare team. As a key member of our team, you will provide collaborative, holistic care on the primary to quaternary care continuum.

Social Workers at Nova Scotia Health and IWK Health are primarily concerned with the relationships between people and their environments, which are integral to psychosocial, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing. You will build upon the strengths of patients/clients by focusing on existing coping strategies and problem-solving skills, past successes, and personal resources.

About You

We are looking for a candidate with a Bachelor's degree in Social Work from a recognized university and current registration with the Nova Scotia College of Social Workers. A minimum of two years of post-BSW related clinical experience is required, with a preference for experience working in adult community mental health.

You will possess knowledge and understanding of the Diagnostic & Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders and be familiar with various evidence-based treatment approaches for use with people with severe and persistent mental illness. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with community partners are essential.

Hours and Compensation

This is a permanent part-time position with 45 hours bi-weekly. Shifts will include weekdays, weekends, and holidays, with travel to other sites possible. The hourly rate is $42.89, and successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package, including health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
