About the Role

Saskatchewan Blue Cross is seeking a highly skilled Quality Assurance Specialist to join our IT Product Delivery Department. As a Quality Assurance Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the quality of our application systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and Execute Test Strategies: Develop test strategies and test plans, write and execute test cases for manual and automated testing, prepare and present test reporting, and actively seek test process optimization.
  • Automated Testing: Follow automated test frameworks and guidelines to develop, grow, and maintain automated test coverage across various application product lines – mobile applications, web applications, and data-centered operations.
  • Test Case Management: Using the test management tool, create test cases and suites for each level of testing - functional in sprints, end-to-end, regression, and release tests.
  • Continuous Improvement: Take up new initiatives and work on proof of concepts regarding latest tools and automation frameworks as needed.
  • Support UAT Testing: Support UAT testing, and provide assistance on application incident resolution.
  • Operational Excellence: Drive operational excellence by focusing on continuous improvement efforts and documenting QA processes.
  • Quality Improvement: Maintain a mindset of continuous quality improvements by highlighting deficiencies and proactively recommending changes in tools, process, reporting, and employee training.
  • Collaboration: As part of a dynamic team, work in close collaboration with a team of specialists - developers, domain subject matter experts, and business representatives.
  • User Story Reviews: Participate in and contribute to user story reviews and provide estimations for test effort.
  • Project Management: Work on various assignments within timelines by contributing from planning to delivery stages.
  • Performance Monitoring: Regular review and assessment of project goals, accomplishments, and priorities to meet personal, departmental, and organizational objectives.

Requirements

  • Education and Experience: Completion of a Post-Secondary Diploma in Computer Science, and a minimum of 3 years of directly related experience. An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered.
  • Testing Experience: Demonstrated experience of creating and conducting automated, regression, and functional testing.
  • Project Experience: Previous experience in supporting large-scale projects.
  • Platform Experience: Preference will be given to candidates with previous experience working on projects converting from a legacy to low-code modern platform.
  • Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to understand business requirements and design test scenarios accordingly.
  • Agile Environment: Ability and desire to work in an agile environment.
  • Communication and Teamwork Skills: Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Time Management: Demonstrated ability to work within time constraints to meet strict deadlines.
  • Technical Skills: Experience using Katalon, Selenium, PostMan, JIRA, JMeter, SQL, would be considered as an asset.
  • Additional Skills: Experiences with testing mobile applications and large set of data migration would be considered as an asset.
