The primary objective of this role is to ensure the effective training and coaching of Driver associates in accordance with Sysco's standards. This position also entails monitoring compliance with policy standards and maintaining accurate training records.

This role encompasses not only the training of drivers but also managing all investigations related to the Ministry of Transportation, including those arising from fines or accidents.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor compliance with Ministry of Transportation regulations by utilizing relevant records.
  • Ensure drivers maintain good standing with the Ministry of Transportation through verification of WSIB/WCB coverage, insurance records, and conviction status.
  • Represent Sysco in all legal matters pertaining to the Ministry of Transportation.
  • Oversee the implementation of the warehouse-to-driver program.
  • Collaborate with insurance providers to ensure compliance.
  • Train and certify driver associates on all Ministry of Transportation requirements.
  • Compile and maintain comprehensive training and development records.
  • Identify training needs and manage the training and development process.
  • Assist in coaching, mentoring, and performance management of team members to enhance their skills and knowledge.
  • Conduct field observation reports to ensure safe vehicle operations.
  • Maintain open communication with associates, addressing inquiries and clarifying policies and procedures.
  • Ensure adherence to all Policies and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) related to Sysco's Food Safety Program.
  • Support the Food Safety Program Manager in achieving compliance with third-party certification and customer requirements.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of two years of experience as a Class 1/AZ Driver in good standing.
  • Approximately three years of training and investigative experience.
  • A College Diploma in Teaching, Business Administration, Managerial Accounting, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, or a related field is required; MOT trainers' certificate preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Strong understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Ministry of Transportation regulations.
  • Willingness to work non-traditional hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
  • A valid driver's license in good standing and access to a vehicle is required.
  • Frequent travel to various sites, corporate office, training sessions, court appearances, and accident investigations is expected.
