Job Summary

Vancouver Island University is seeking a highly qualified and experienced Faculty Member to join our team in the Department of Early Childhood Education. As a Professor of Early Childhood Education, you will be responsible for teaching and mentoring students, developing curriculum, and contributing to the growth and development of our program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach and assess student learning in Early Childhood Education courses
  • Develop and implement curriculum that aligns with program goals and outcomes
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of program policies and procedures
  • Participate in departmental and faculty meetings
  • Engage in scholarly activity and community involvement
Requirements
  • Master's Degree in Early Childhood Education and Care
  • 7 or more years of practice in Early Childhood Education
  • Current membership in the Early Childhood Educators of British Columbia (ECEBC)
  • Recent practical experience in the field of Early Childhood Education
  • Strong commitment to teaching and student learning
  • Ability to meet the needs of a diverse student population
  • Knowledge and experience in applying theory in practice
  • Ability to work with and contribute to teams at all levels of a post-secondary institution
  • Proficiency with the application and integration of information technology to teaching
  • Knowledge and understanding of Indigenous ways of knowing and cultural teachings
Preferred Qualifications
  • PhD in Early Childhood Education and Care
  • Expertise in instruction at the post-secondary level
  • Proven research skills
