Position Overview

At Graham, we understand that our subcontractors bring invaluable expertise and experience to our projects, which is crucial to our success. The Risk Advisor will be an integral part of the risk management team, focusing on the prequalification of subcontractors to ensure their unique skills and experience align with the specific needs of our projects.

Key Responsibilities

Subcontractor Risk Evaluations

  • Conduct thorough risk evaluations of potential subcontractors to confirm their experience, operational capacity, and financial stability to collaborate with Graham.
  • Assist project teams in formulating subcontractor management strategies to mitigate the risk of subcontractor defaults.

Subcontractor Default Insurance Management

  • Support the oversight and administration of our subcontractor default insurance program.

Building Strong Partnerships

  • Foster robust relationships and maintain open communication with internal project teams to enhance awareness of risk management practices and protocols.
  • Develop collaborative relationships with subcontractors, emphasizing confidentiality, tact, and diplomacy.

Training and Development Initiatives

  • Address inquiries from internal and external stakeholders regarding the prequalification and approval processes.
  • Engage in formal risk management training sessions to promote and reinforce responsible risk management practices, ensuring compliance with corporate policies and procedures.

Qualifications and Skills

  • A Bachelor’s degree in risk management, accounting, finance, or a related business field.
  • CIP or CRM professional designation is an asset.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in risk management, underwriting (surety or commercial), or supply chain management roles.
  • Strong understanding of financial statements and financial analysis.
  • Experience in the construction industry is preferred.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite.
