Environmental Toxicologist

We are seeking a highly skilled Toxicology Specialist to join our team at MTE Consultants, Inc. as an Environmental Risk Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting comprehensive risk assessments, chemical fate and transport modeling, and preparing reports and assessments.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct thorough risk assessments, including problem formulation, exposure assessment, hazard assessment, and risk characterization;
- Develop and implement chemical fate and transport models to predict the behavior of contaminants in the environment;
- Prepare detailed reports and assessments, including the review, evaluation, and interpretation of published toxicology and related environmental assessment data;
- Conduct literature searches and collect, collate, and summarize analytical data;
- Perform quality assurance checks on technical materials and develop and maintain relationships with clients and regulators;
- Work towards developing project management skills and take on additional responsibilities as experience increases.
- Bachelor's degree in human or ecological toxicology or a related field;
- Minimum 1-3 years of work experience in risk assessments related to contaminated sites or standards setting is considered an asset;
- Background in Human Health Risk Assessment, Environmental Toxicology, and understanding of Ontario and Canadian environmental policies/guidelines/regulations pertaining to contaminated sites;
- Excellent data research skills, analytical, statistical, and data management skills are required;
- Strong verbal and written communication skills;
- Proficient use of Microsoft Office products for the development of detailed technical spreadsheets;
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong organizational and time management skills.
