We are seeking a highly experienced and accomplished researcher to join our team as a Visiting Scholar. As a Visiting Scholar, you will have the unique opportunity to conduct cutting-edge research in autonomous robotics, collaborate with our team of experts, and contribute to the development of innovative technologies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct in-depth research in autonomous robotics, focusing on areas such as navigation, planning, perception, mapping, deep learning, reinforcement learning, or generative AI.
  • Collaborate with our team to develop and implement new technologies, and provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior researchers.
  • Work closely with academic institutions to establish partnerships, develop joint research projects, and publish research papers.
  • Represent OTTO Motors as a technology leader in the field of autonomous robotics, through patents, publications, open-source contributions, and public presentations.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in autonomous robotics, and communicate these to the team and stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Computer Science, Engineering, Applied Physics, Mathematics, or equivalent.
  • Substantial experience in conducting independent research as a postdoc, professor, or equivalent, including within a larger organization such as a corporate lab or academic institute.
  • Broad familiarity with key technologies and modalities in autonomous robotics, including sensing, computation, communication, and actuation.
  • Specific expertise in one or more areas of autonomous robotics, with a strong publication record in notable journals or conferences.
  • Familiarity with software development and testing methodologies and tools.
  • Experience presenting and representing research or work in public.
  • Hands-on experience with developing and deploying software for physical robots.
  • Strong experience with programming languages such as C++, Python, and ideally more languages (Lua, Rust, etc).
  • Strong experience with key libraries such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, Ceres, or OMPL.
  • Reasonable experience with frameworks such as ROS1, ROS 2, Gazebo, CUDA, and ideally more.
  • Highly proficient with experimental analysis and benchmarking.
