Job Title: Front-end Data Engineer

We are a group at Groupe SII Data Science and Statistical Computation with a focus on developing methods and systems to support interactive analysis of genomic data.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Creating effective, beautiful, and usable interactive data analysis interfaces to visualize, explore and interrogate integrated data from diverse technologies and biological systems.
  • Developing highly performant, responsive, interactive analysis software for large datasets.
  • Collaborating with local and off-shore engineering teams to support software development efforts.
  • Contributing to the broader scientific community through open-source software development.
Requirements:
  • BS or higher in bioinformatics, computer science, mathematics or related fields.
  • 5+ years experience developing tools for interactive data analysis and visualization.
  • Expertise in modern JS (ES6) programming.
  • Expertise with high performance web-based visualization technologies, e.g., WebGL.
  • Familiarity with UI design best practices, usability testing and iterative design.
  • Demonstrated adherence to best practices in software engineering, particularly usability, version control, testing, and appropriate use of abstraction.
Desirable Skills:
  • Biological domain knowledge, specifically in single cell genomics.
  • Basic data analysis skills.
