About the Position:
This role provides critical support to our veterinarians by assisting with all aspects of anesthesia and surgery for both privately owned and shelter animals. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, career-minded, and passionate about delivering exceptional patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist veterinarians with patient care, including administering medications, performing treatments, and collecting specimens.
- Perform diagnostic, medical, and surgical procedures using various diagnostic equipment.
- Monitor patient vital signs, inputs, and outputs, and maintain accurate medical records.
- Provide exceptional customer service to clients, including educating them on patient care and treatment.
- Assist with humane euthanasia and other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Successful completion of a veterinary technologist program accredited by the Canadian Veterinary Medicine Association (CVMA) and registration with the BC Veterinary Technologists Association (BCVTA).
- Experience in delivering high-quality customer service to a variety of stakeholders.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to multi-task and complete tasks/projects within defined timelines.
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Able to fulfill physical demands of the job, including standing for long periods of time, walking, sitting, and lifting heavy objects and patients.
- Understanding of the risks associated with working with animals and an ability to follow safety requirements and other precautions.
