Role Overview: The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in our practice, focusing on property transactions and supporting general administrative functions. The position may also involve assisting with family law, corporate/commercial matters, and estate planning as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drafting and managing property transaction documents, including land title documents, mortgage agreements, condominium documents, and other closing paperwork.
  • Conducting due diligence searches and organizing the necessary documentation.
  • Registering relevant documents with the Land Titles Office and other regulatory bodies.
  • Communicating with clients and legal professionals regarding the status of files.
  • Maintaining organized legal files in both physical and digital formats.
  • Managing trust funds, including their receipt and disbursement.
  • Performing general administrative duties such as file initiation, billing processes, and scheduling.
  • Providing office support by answering calls, managing correspondence, and coordinating meetings.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of a post-secondary diploma or certificate from an accredited legal assistant or paralegal program in Alberta (consideration will be given to candidates with substantial experience in a conveyancing or legal assistant role).
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in Alberta conveyancing is essential.
  • Familiarity with real estate and lending documentation.
  • Knowledge of various lending institutions, including alternative lenders.
  • Experience in corporate/commercial law, family law, and civil litigation is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Adobe software.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to changing priorities.
  • A client-focused approach with a dedication to providing exceptional service.
  • Ability to follow directives and meet strict deadlines.
  • Sound judgment, discretion, and confidentiality are essential.
  • Experience with Cosmolex is a plus but not required.
