Job OverviewReporting to the Director, Construction, as the Construction Safety Specialist, you play a vital role in ensuring a safe and healthy workplace for all employees at our construction sites. You will be responsible for monitoring compliance with Qualico's comprehensive safety program and promoting a culture of safety awareness.
Your Responsibilities- Conduct thorough site inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure adherence to safety regulations. Document your findings meticulously in our safety inspection system.
- Take immediate action to rectify any unsafe conditions or practices, mitigating risks and hazards effectively.
- Lead comprehensive safety orientations for new employees, providing clear guidance on company policies and legislative requirements. Enforce these standards consistently across all trades and personnel working at our sites.
- Maintain accurate records of Joint Safety & Health committee meetings held at assigned work sites.
- Administer first aid as required, ensuring the well-being of employees in case of emergencies.
- Collaborate with internal and external teams during Certificate of Recognition (COR) audits, contributing to our ongoing commitment to safety excellence.
- Investigate workplace incidents and reports of hazardous conditions promptly and thoroughly, adhering to established Safety Program procedures.
- Continuously evaluate the effectiveness of our safety program procedures, identifying areas for improvement and implementing necessary changes.
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented individual with exceptional communication skills. You possess a strong understanding of construction safety regulations and best practices.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) Certification.
- Standard First Aid Certification.
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in high-rise construction.
- Valid driver's licence and access to reliable vehicle.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, SharePoint and PowerPoint).
