Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Educational Assistant to join our team at Weyburn Comprehensive School. As an Educational Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with diverse needs and/or high behavioral needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support students with diverse needs and/or high behavioral needs in a classroom setting
  • Transport students from school to their homes in the afternoons, using a division vehicle
  • Attend to personal hygiene and medical needs as required
  • Prepare and plan student-based life skills and academic programming under the direction of a teacher
  • Focus on successfully transitioning students to work with other students and adults
  • Focus on behavior and safety plans created specifically for students as required
  • Supervise intensive need students as well as small groups of students as required
Requirements
  • Minimum Grade 12 diploma from an institution recognized by the Board of Education
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to change and be flexible
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as an effective team member
  • Valid driver's license
  • Demonstrated knowledge of school computer software such as word processing and computer-assisted learning software
  • An educational assistant or equivalent diploma, NVCI, First Aid, Autism and Behavioral educational background will be considered assets
  • Commitment to the ideals of public education as well as the mission, vision, and guiding principles of the South East Cornerstone Public School Division
Benefits

Salary and benefits are in accordance with the currently negotiated SEIU-West Collective Agreement. The starting wage for this position is currently $20.77/hour, along with a full benefit package and an employer-defined pension plan.
