MLSE is seeking a dedicated Manager of Accounting to join our Finance team, reporting directly to the Director of Finance. This role is crucial for overseeing financial reporting and analysis of monthly and quarterly results, particularly in the areas of Ticketing, Global Partnerships, and our LIVE entertainment operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily accounting operations, including P&L and Balance Sheet management, ensuring timely and accurate closing of financial records for Ticketing, Global Partnerships, and Live entertainment sectors.
- Prepare insightful analysis and commentary for monthly and quarterly financial reporting packages for senior management.
- Supervise general accounting functions, including the review and approval of monthly journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations, adhering to strict deadlines.
- Assist with the annual audit of consolidated financial statements and league reporting for all associated teams.
- Review and approve variance analysis comparing actual results to planned forecasts for ownership presentations.
- Collaborate with various business units to investigate significant account variances and obtain necessary explanations.
- Manage and contribute to multiple sub-ledger reconciliations to ensure precise revenue reporting and billing processes.
- Support the coordination of requests from external auditors.
- Review refund and payment requests to ensure accuracy.
- Engage in special projects as required.
- Perform additional duties as needed.
Qualifications

- A minimum of 5 years of relevant accounting experience, with a preference for candidates who have managed teams.
- A post-graduate degree or diploma in Business Administration, Finance, or Commerce is preferred.
- Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation or nearing completion is essential.
- A results-driven, detail-oriented approach with a commitment to best practices and continuous improvement.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to effectively lead and coach team members, fostering their professional growth.
- Demonstrated initiative with the capability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
- Strong technical accounting knowledge in IFRS, including IFRS 15.
- Proficient in analyzing and interpreting data to develop logical solutions.
- A preference for a dynamic, fast-paced environment with strong time management skills.
- Familiarity with Oracle Fusion Cloud ERP is an asset.
- Proficient in MS Office, with advanced skills in Excel, VBA, and macros.
