OVERVIEW:
This position is responsible for managing key functions and initiatives related to Volunteer Services, including the recruitment, training, support, evaluation, recognition, and retention of volunteers to promote engagement, safety, and overall success.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Organizes and oversees meetings, interviews, reference checks, onboarding processes, training sessions, recognition activities, and events.
- Ensures accurate maintenance of volunteer records through diligent data entry and file management.
- Tracks and generates reports on volunteer metrics such as service hours, attrition rates, scheduling, and qualifications.
- Provides assistance to volunteers while maintaining confidentiality on sensitive issues.
- Regularly updates training materials and the document repository for volunteers.
- Offers support in resolving conflicts and enforcing policies, escalating issues to the Volunteer Services Manager as needed.
- Cultivates strong relationships with volunteers, staff, and leadership, promoting collaboration across departments.
- Carries out special projects or assignments as directed by the Volunteer Services Manager.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A degree or diploma in Human Resources, Business Administration, Education, Sciences, or a related field.
- At least 2 years of experience in roles focused on people or volunteer coordination.
- Previous experience in managing volunteer programs and initiatives.
- Understanding of processes related to volunteer recruitment, training, support, evaluation, recognition, and retention.
- Knowledge of policies, principles, and practices concerning volunteer resources.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Familiarity with Volunteer Management Software, such as Better Impact, is advantageous.
- A background in biology, ecology, aquatic sciences, or similar fields is beneficial.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong abilities in conflict resolution.
This role is part-time and contracted.
COMPENSATION: $22 to $32 per hour
