Position Overview
The Marketing Department at IGM Financial (which includes IG Wealth Management and Mackenzie Investments) is currently seeking applications for the role of Communications Specialist, reporting directly to the Director of Communications. As a member of the national Corporate Communications team, you will play a vital role in developing and executing strategic communications for IGM Financial, encompassing both IG Wealth Management and Mackenzie Investments. The ideal candidate will also assist in shaping the editorial direction of the team and will utilize their exceptional writing skills to create and refine content for a variety of external and internal (advisor-focused) audiences.
Key Responsibilities:
Media Relations: Contribute to IGM Financial's ongoing media relations initiatives by crafting engaging and innovative pitch angles, preparing media materials, and building relationships with targeted editors and journalists. Collaborate with media outlets to secure interview opportunities for IGM/IG/Mackenzie representatives. Participate in the social media team and assist in content creation. Engage confidently with business leaders and work closely with external PR agency teams. Writing and Editing: Develop content and manage approvals for various external materials, including press releases, media pitches, social media posts, speaking notes, and video scripts. Support IG advisor communications by creating advisor-focused articles, emails, intranet content for web conferences, designed collateral, and web pages. Oversee content delivery, including translation, design, and digital and multimedia requirements as necessary. Monitor and report on metrics. Project Management: Collaborate with team members to ensure campaigns and plans progress in a timely manner, addressing stakeholder needs. Assist with the layout and review process for daily communications cycles. Monitor, collect, and share analytics as required.Qualifications:
2-4 years of experience in a corporate communications or PR agency setting. Direct experience in the financial services sector is considered an asset. A strong and adaptable writer capable of balancing corporate tone with compelling storytelling, possessing strong editing skills and a keen eye for detail and accuracy. Experience in implementing communications campaigns for both external and internal audiences. A solid understanding of media relations and integrated PR campaigns. Demonstrated interest in industry best practices in communications. Proficiency in social media strategy and content creation for various platforms (e.g., LinkedIn, X, etc.). Strong project management abilities with the capacity to handle multiple projects under tight deadlines. Established relationships with a diverse range of journalists. Proficient in Excel and PowerPoint. Experience with Adobe Creative Suite and Adobe Analytics is considered an asset. A post-secondary degree or diploma in Communications or Public Relations. Bilingual proficiency in English and French is considered an asset.
