OCAD University is seeking a qualified Sessional Instructor to teach the course Introduction to Psychology in the Faculty of Arts and Science.
About the CourseThis lecture course introduces students to the scientific study of human and animal behavior, with a focus on the individual as the unit of study. Through discussion, course materials, and clips from Universal Studio films, students will survey key concepts, issues, and research methods in the various sub-disciplines of psychology and relate these to contemporary life and culture.
Responsibilities- Teaching and teaching-related responsibilities may include course outline development, studio preparation and delivery, grading, mid-term evaluations, and final evaluations/reviews.
- Responsibility for health and safety and meeting academic and curricular requirements and deadlines.
- A terminal degree in art, design, or a relevant discipline and/or equivalent professional/practical experience.
- Experience teaching at the post-secondary level is considered an asset, equivalent relevant experience will be considered.
- Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills.
- Demonstrated leadership and experience promoting a respectful and inclusive work and learning environment for students, staff, and faculty.
Sessional appointments are fixed-term annual contracts. Sessional compensation includes a per-course pay scale with salary level of $6, per 0.5 credit course) plus 7% in lieu of benefits and vacation pay, per the provisions of the Employment Standards Act.
These positions are subject to budgetary approval and satisfactory enrolment levels.
