Key Responsibilities:

  1. Formulate, implement, and uphold performance testing strategies and plans, ensuring alignment with project goals and schedules.
  2. Craft and develop performance testing scripts utilizing JMeter, Java, and Fiddler, ensuring efficiency, maintainability, and scalability.
  3. Utilize monitoring tools such as Dynatrace, Datadog, and Splunk to assess, analyze, and enhance application performance, identifying potential bottlenecks and areas for improvement.
  4. Conduct garbage collection analysis, heap and thread analysis, and other diagnostic procedures to troubleshoot performance challenges and provide actionable recommendations.
  5. Collaborate with development and operations teams to promote performance tuning initiatives, suggesting and executing optimizations to enhance application performance, stability, and resource efficiency.
  6. Offer architectural insights and guidance to ensure that application design and implementation are optimized for performance, scalability, and reliability.
  7. Establish and uphold performance engineering best practices, processes, and guidelines, ensuring consistent adherence by the team.
  8. Mentor and train junior performance engineers, aiding in their skill development and career progression.
  9. Continuously explore and stay informed on the latest performance engineering tools, methodologies, and industry trends, integrating them into the company's practices as appropriate.

Required Skills and Experience:

  1. 2-5 years of experience in performance engineering, emphasizing performance testing, tuning, and troubleshooting. Strong programming skills in Java, with experience in JMeter scripting and Fiddler.
  2. Proficiency in performance engineering tools such as JMeter, Dynatrace, Datadog, and Splunk.
  3. Comprehensive understanding of application architecture, with the ability to analyze and optimize performance at the system, database, and application levels.
  4. Experience with garbage collection analysis, heap and thread analysis, and other diagnostic techniques for troubleshooting performance issues.
  5. Familiarity with CI/CD tools like Jenkins and GitLab CI is essential for automating performance testing within the software development lifecycle.
  6. Knowledge of containerization technologies like Docker and orchestration platforms like Kubernetes is crucial for optimizing application performance in containerized environments.
  7. Understanding of SQL and NoSQL databases, along with their performance optimization techniques, is essential for a performance engineer.
  8. Experience with cloud platforms like Microsoft Azure is important for performance engineers working on cloud-based applications.
  9. Familiarity with load balancing techniques and content delivery networks (CDNs) is vital for optimizing application performance in distributed environments.

Education:

Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field; or relevant experience.
