Overview
MDA Space, a leader in the global space sector, is seeking a Systems Manager to join our dynamic Satellite Systems team. With over 55 years of pioneering achievements in robotics, satellite systems, and geointelligence, MDA Space is at the forefront of communications satellites, Earth observation, and space exploration.
As a Systems Manager, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the technical aspects of a program within your area of expertise, ensuring successful execution throughout the system life cycle.
Key Responsibilities:
- Direct and manage all technical activities to fulfill contractual obligations while maintaining strong employee and customer relations.
- Serve as the primary technical liaison with clients.
- Collaborate closely with other Systems Managers to ensure program coherence.
- Conduct system trade-offs and lead investigations into technical challenges.
- Make critical technical decisions from project initiation to in-orbit acceptance, optimizing the use of MDA's products for cost and schedule efficiency.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to ensure program success in alignment with budget, schedule, and specifications.
- Continuously assess program status and address unplanned issues with effective solutions.
- Uphold the highest ethical standards and comply with all relevant laws and regulations.
- Communicate program objectives and expectations clearly to internal teams and subcontractors.
- Develop and maintain program baselines, including task definitions, budgets, and schedules.
- Lead the development of follow-on activities and new business opportunities.
- Support contract performance monitoring alongside subcontract management.
- Guide program leads and designated staff in contract execution.
- Foster a motivational environment that encourages team engagement and recognizes achievements.
- Resolve conflicts and prioritize demands within assigned programs.
- Establish and nurture effective working relationships across departments.
- Oversee the system engineering team, including RF, digital, electrical, EMC, mechanical, and thermal aspects.
- Review engineering documentation and lead design reviews.
- Manage integration, verification, and validation processes.
- Facilitate test reviews and support In-Orbit Testing.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Over 10 years of experience in System Management or Senior Project System Engineering.
- Familiarity with satellite constellations is advantageous.
- Proficient in negotiations, risk management, and contract oversight.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient communication skills in English; knowledge of French is a plus.
Additional Considerations:
Candidates must obtain the reliability status level and pass a security assessment for the Controlled Goods Program (CGP).
