Design Manager - Rail and Transit

We are seeking a highly skilled Design Manager to lead our Rail and Transit team in delivering complex station projects. As a key member of our Engineering Design Organization, you will be responsible for managing multi-disciplinary project delivery, ensuring compliance with client requirements, and driving innovation in design.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Lead project delivery for complex station DB/P3 projects, producing compliant and constructible designs.
  • Ensure design processes follow GHD and project-specific guidelines.
  • Coordinate Quality Control of deliverables and manage the engineering design budget.
  • Develop and verify technical scope, provide pricing during proposal, and work planning following project award.
  • Participate in schedule preparation and alignment with the Project Controls team.
  • Implement and follow the project's Change Control system.
  • Review and improve project strategy to meet design schedule and budget.
  • Ensure fluid communication between project management, design, construction, and internal/external partners.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Structural, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Member of the PEO or OAA in Province of Ontario.
  • Design Management experience on LRT projects in Canada.
  • Project Delivery experience in alternate project delivery (P3, DB) and leading design team arrangements.
  • 7+ years of design management experience on large multi-discipline engineering teams.
  • Understanding of depots, stations, electrification, and signaling.
  • Knowledge of scheduling software and engineering estimating techniques.
  • Experience with BIM on multi-discipline projects.
  • Ability to deal with uncertainty and multiple priorities.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
