Job Summary

The Government of Northwest Territories is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Court Officer 1 to join our team. As a Court Officer 1, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of the Territorial Court and Youth Justice Court.

Key Responsibilities

  • Examine and process documents for filing and issuing on behalf of the Territorial Court and Youth Justice Court
  • Ensure compliance with legislative requirements, including Rules of Court, territorial and federal Acts, Court policies, directives, and procedures
  • Interpret and explain Rules of Court and legislation to members of the legal community, general public, and other clients
  • Provide support to the judiciary in the courtroom and follow through with court decisions
  • Work independently in a fast-paced, multi-tasked environment with strict time constraints

Requirements

  • Grade 12 with 2-3 years' experience working independently in a multi-faceted office environment
  • Ability to interpret and explain Rules of Court and legislation
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with the public, legal community, and judiciary
  • Self-motivated, detailed-oriented, and organized with good judgment
  • Accurate data entry skills and computer knowledge

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary starting at $40.85 per hour (approximately $66,690 - $79,658 per annum)
  • Annual Northern Allowance of $3,700
