Licensed Practical Nurse

Your Role:
As a key member of a multidisciplinary healthcare team, the Registered Nurse (RN) is instrumental in fostering a comprehensive and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion, and maintenance. Working in a rural healthcare setting will enhance your skills and challenge your ability to manage varying levels of patient acuity while prioritizing tasks effectively. You will be tasked with the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of safe, high-quality care in accordance with the policies and guidelines of Alberta Health Services (AHS). You will cater to a diverse patient demographic, consistently emphasizing the core values of AHS – compassion, accountability, respect, excellence, and safety. Develop your expertise in acute medical/surgical care and emergency services. You will demonstrate critical thinking and problem-solving abilities while delivering direct, patient-centered care across all age groups, maintaining a professional demeanor and excellent communication skills. Northern Alberta offers exceptional benefits beyond your professional career – experience a unique lifestyle, connect with new individuals, and explore various recreational activities. Enjoy the extended summer days and the great outdoors: hiking, biking, horseback riding, or ATVing along extensive trails, fishing, swimming, or paddling in northern waterways, as well as winter sports like skiing, skating, or ice fishing. From expansive grasslands to lush boreal forests, you will be immersed in communities with distinct cultures.
Position Overview:
In your capacity as a Registered Nurse, you will deliver a broad spectrum of nursing services to patients, families, communities, and populations, while ensuring their safety and well-being. Your responsibilities will include utilizing nursing processes through critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making, as well as teaching, counseling, and advocating for patients and their families. You will take on a leadership role in promoting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion, and maintenance. Your focus will be on providing safe, quality, patient-centered care that reflects the shared vision and values of AHS.
Required Qualifications: - Completion of an accredited nursing education program.
- Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA).
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
- If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of specific free courses is required.
- Experience in at least one of the following areas is essential: acute care, emergency, intensive care, continuing care, or psychiatry, along with a willingness to acquire new skills as necessary.
- Ability to work shifts and meet the physical demands of the role.
- Certification(s) in a relevant specialty area, experience as a charge nurse, and past leadership training/experience.
- Experience in multiple departments such as acute care, emergency, intensive care, continuing care, or psychiatry is preferred, along with a willingness to learn new skills.
