The Middle Mile Product and Technology division is seeking a proficient Software Development Manager to spearhead our engineering team. In this capacity, you will be responsible for overseeing the planning and execution of significant projects from inception to completion. Key responsibilities include gathering business and technical requirements from various stakeholders, drafting technical documentation, managing project timelines from conception to deployment, and ensuring successful production launches. You will coordinate design and implementation efforts across diverse teams to create optimal solutions.
As a Software Development Manager at Amazon, you will serve as a technical authority, establishing engineering standards and guiding the overall technical framework and practices within the organization. You will tackle some of Amazon's most challenging issues, developing high-quality, architecturally robust systems that align with our strategic objectives. Your expertise will encompass both detailed technical contributions and high-level architectural planning.
Your role will involve driving projects through all phases, collaborating with business teams on product definitions, architecting and implementing technical solutions, and assessing their effectiveness. You will engage with and influence senior management across the organization, playing a crucial role in Amazon's ongoing evolution. You will collaborate with a talented group of technical experts to design highly scalable systems that prioritize customer experience. Key Responsibilities:- Ensure the integrity of system architecture and design.
- Break down complex challenges into straightforward, actionable solutions.
- Comprehensively understand system interdependencies and constraints.
- Exhibit expert knowledge in performance, scalability, system architecture, and engineering best practices.
- Utilize insights from internal and industry standards in design decisions.
- Conduct research and benchmarking of Amazon's technology against industry competitors.
- Act as a technical lead on cross-functional initiatives and software development teams.
- Support the professional growth of team members through mentorship and guidance on advanced technical topics.
- Contribute to the ongoing recruitment and development of technical talent, including Principal Engineers.
- Influence multiple teams technically, enhancing their productivity and effectiveness through shared knowledge and experience.
- Communicate effectively with users, technical teams, and senior leadership to gather requirements, articulate software features, technical designs, and product strategies.
- Foster the growth of Software Engineers through effective recruiting, mentoring, and management practices.
